What a difference in the display, I now have full 60HZ all the way up to 4096 x 2160. I went for the most compact (limited space on my mini desktop) and robust looking one and ordered it. A couple of years ago Parade announced a new, HDMI 2.0 compatible, chipset, the PS176 and I found a couple of adaptors on Amazon that contained this chipset.

The chipset was announced in October 2012 and is now getting long in the tooth. This Ugreen cable uses the over half decade old Parade PS8402A chipset to convert the signal from DP to HDMI.

This is below the refresh rate required for 'persistence' of vision' and it was obvious when working that the display seemed to constantly flicker. However, even though this is an active cable, the maximum refresh rate I could obtain in either Windows 10 or Linux, was 24HZ. I have purchased a lot of technology from Ugreen and their quality is excellent and I trusted that it would support the advertised 4K at 30HZ output. I bought this cable to facilitate connecting my HP PC, which has 2 displayport and no HDMI outputs, to a 4K monitor.
